A Petrie Island Engagement session? COUNT ME IN! When Alyssa and Kyle told me they wanted to do their engagement session at Petrie Island, I was totally down. I hadn’t been to the beach in so long and honestly the terrain has changed so much over the years that I am grateful they suggested it.
It was a busy Tuesday night, unsurprising with this heat wave we’ve had all summer. We walked along the trails, stopping where the light was magical along the way. But obviously we had to start things off with their dogs, Mika and Titan. Mika is the older of the two pups with Titan being only 5months old. Needless to say, the new territory and people excited him quite a bit! So after a couple family photos, Kyle’s dad took the doggos away and we went on our merry way to find the light. We jumped in the bush, got attacked by many many gnats and eventually made our way to a secluded spot. The tip of the peninsula made for a perfect location to capture water, foliage, sunlight and of course their adorableness.
We actually hadn’t met before this session so I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. Alyssa was super excited but I could tell Kyle wasn’t in a great mood when we started so I did what I always do… I talked my ass off and it worked! Kyle quickly let loose and his personality came through. Many many dirty jokes, smiles and kisses are what came out of this tall teddy bear. My favourite moment had to be when I told them to kiss in slow mo and he just fully paused. I was confused at first because, well why are they pausing? Alyssa was smiling and laughing so I asked what he was doing. He said something along the lines of: ”I read the trick was to pause and THEN go into the kiss”. So here we were, their faces just millimetres from touching and we all laughed. #Worthit
The sun was running away so fast, so Alyssa and Kyle quickly changed in their truck and we wandered to the beach. We found a little rock peninsula where I think my favourite shot happened. And then more favourite shots, and then I was just over the moon with how beautiful everything was. The sun behind the clouds created beautiful light, movement and colour. You know things are good when your photographer is freaking out over the light haha. After a few more on the peninsula, we walked over to get a quick shot with Kyle’s Mustang before ending things IN the water. The session was beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for a better night and couple to hangout with. Can’t way for their May 2021 wedding, it was fate my dears xoxox.
