Spring in Ottawa can be quite tricky. If you look at almost the same time last year as this session, many areas in Ottawa were flooded or just getting over the floods. Blossom season was nowhere in sight. This year, we did not flood but the blossoms are certainly taking their sweet time once again! Julie had requested to get the session done during the blooms so about two months prior to the session we had decided on one evening as well as a backup plan if ever the weather was less than favourable. Well come May 13th, I did multiple sessions and realized that getting the flowers might be tricky as most of the tress were tiny little buds or already fully bloomed and dying like the Magnolia trees. So when I told Julie that we wouldn’t have blooms she was still hopeful and decided to go ahead with our initial date, and thank god we did!
I arrived to the Arboretum a tad earlier then expected only to find 4 trees in bloom! They weren’t full and as luscious as I was hoping BUT they were there, and they were pink and adorable! The sunset was absolutely perfect and there was no one in sight, we had out own private little area. Julie & Bryden arrived only to find that parking in the area can be quite difficult but they managed and off we were to frolic in the fields. They were a little shy at first, but who isn’t really? Within 10mins of being in front of the camera though they warmed up and became quite the models! I was so impressed with how well they did and how willing to do any pose I asked of them. I even asked Julie to climb a little up a tree and sit on it, as much as it didn’t really work, she did it and we had a good laugh out of it. We ended the session with them cuddling near the greenhouses. It was so great catching up with Julie, I hadn’t seen her since high school! And I absolutely cannot wait to go down to Mexico with them, their family and friends and to celebrate such a special day in their lives. I am obsessed with these photos and I hope you will be too, I mean just look at how beautiful they are! xox
