How was your Canada day? ‘Cause mine was pretty wonderful! I got to spend it with this beautiful couple and their closest family celebrating their wedding. Jenna and Adam had one of the most intimate weddings I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing and I loved every minute of it. I arrived at Adam’s family home out near Perth and was greeted by lovely balloons and his parents fully dress for the occasion. Jenna was getting ready with her lovely friends doing her hair and makeup while Adam was in a separate room putting his finishing touches on. I walked out back to find his brother, wife and their son putting up the final touches while they awaited for the guests arrival. There was a tent for cover in case of rain, a beautiful white arch and wooden benches, a table with lovely lemon water and lemonade and of course alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. There was a beautiful table with photos of the happy couple, some of their favourite things like books and quotes, a beautiful gold card box, their guest signing frame and a beautiful succulent… Jenna lovessss succulents… So much so even that before they knew her bouquet would have a succulent in it, Jenna sent Adam out on a hunt through Ottawa to find one as a decorative piece for their table, which served me greatly for ring shots ;). I was quick to be told by Adam’s father that where the ceremony was being held was not the original locations as the backyard had flooded thanks to all of this rain we’ve been getting. But no matter the location, it was beautiful and perfect for these two.

I’m also going to say how Obsessed I am with Jenna’s ring ♥♥♥ Everything about it made me melt, I never knew I could love a ring so much! Their invitations were also absolutely stunning and Kudos to the Baker of the Macarons for duplicating their design invite onto the macarons themselves.

My second shooter and I spent a good portion of our time before the ceremony taking photos of as many details as we could as well as guests chatting and having a wonderful time before the bride and grooms debut. After all, family and love is what this day was all about, and that made my heart so happy. Before the ceremony began, Jenna requested that she and Adam do a first look away from their guests so they could have a private moment together. Adam waited patiently by some large trees in the neighbours yard as Jenna made her way over with the biggest smile on her face. Adam turned and open his eyes to look at her and he held it together as much as he could. He smiled and took her hand and just started at her, beaming. Jenna couldn’t hold her tears back as a few fell from her eyes as did Adam. It was a beautiful moment to see and it was there’s alone. They’ll forever have that memory ♥ After a little touch up it was time for these two to finally be married.

Jenna Walked down the aisle and around their guests with her parents arm in arm as she made her way to Adam. The ceremony was quite beautiful. The officiant had the guests interacting with the couple and even had them yell out a big ole’ ”YES” in approval of their marriage. They had Adam’s sister and Jenna’s brother come up and do readings for them. A few people teared up including the happy couple but everyone pretty much had a smile the entire time the ceremony was happening. You could really feel all the love surrounding them on this oh so very special day. After an awesome kiss, signing of official documents and a dramatic bow from the groom himself, these two were FINALLY husband and wife! I also need to mention that they were calling for rain and thundershowers for the day and the weather held out, even to the point of the sun piercing through the clouds and shining as bright as it could as these two recited their vows and exchanged rings.

They greeted each guests with such happiness after the ceremony, I don’t think a  single person didn’t get a hug! After an awesome group shot which consisted of happy smiles and fist pumps, and some family photos, it was time to focus on our bride and groom.

First off we stuck around to get a few shots by the water which was a feat in itself. We removed our shoes, Jenna grabbed her dress and Adam rolled up his pants and we trekked through the flooded grounds to get to the dock. This shot was just so appropriately Canadian too, with the water and Canadian flag haha. We then walked around since we didn’t go through all the trouble of walking through the flooded area for one shot now did we? I swore if I had brought a change of clothes or swimsuit I would have lain down in the water to get all the shots but I still had some time to work through so we made magic happen in other ways. After a quick rinse of their feet, we were on our way out to the reception location.

The reception was being held at beautiful BnB out past Perth called Penny’s lane. We arrived to find the dinner space beautiful decorated. It was so intimate and beautiful, I just couldn’t get over that these two planned such a cool wedding and in such an awesome place.

Jenna, Adam and I walked around the grounds exploring all the different options it gave us for backdrops. We already knew we loved the old barn and the crumbling brick wall so we stuck to that a little before continuing our walk through the paths. We found an enchanted spot where there were stone stairs, a moss chairs, swings and just this absolutely beautiful tree cover that created for some wonderful light. We played in the tall grass and hay, taking advantage of all those amazing lens flares Jenna loves so much before finishing up with some loving while leaning on an old wood fence. We then walked back to where the guests were playing lawn games and getting ready for dinner.

We said our goodbyes which I was so sad to because I can’t remember the last time I only shot for 4hours. I usually spend a minimum of 8hours with my couples on their wedding day and I have to say, I wanted to hang out with these guys and their awesome family just a little more. But as I arrived in Ottawa we got that torrential downpour that they were calling for and all I could think of in that moment was ”OMG HOW LUCKY WERE WE!!!” Jenna & Adam, I hope you know how lucky you are and how the weather gods were sooooo on your side for your wedding day. I hope the remainder of your evening was AMAZING and I hope that all your friends and family that didn’t know this wedding was happening is as thrilled for you as I am. Congrats again xoxox
