When Caitlin contacted me she had informed me that to she and Tyler the most important images for their wedding day was of their ceremony, family and friends and of course their own portraits. After a few emails we had decided that a smaller elopement style package was the best fit for them and decided on 3hrs of coverage. I don’t do very many smaller packages but after having photographed their big day I will say I loved it and am looking forward to doing more of these. Caitlin and I had only facetimed once before the big day having never met her or Tyler. When I arrived to the beautiful Rideau View Golf Club in Manotick where Tyler and his guys were hanging out inside the beautifully decorated reception space having some drinks in their Yeti’s. I wandered around the room quickly to take some detail shots of everything because it was just all so beautiful. Caitlin really has an eye for this! There was a floating seating chart in between two tables. One of which had photos of family members that were no longer with us and a signing table with a gorgeous handmade wooden board with their name by Milkhouse Designs. The centrepieces were beautiful eucalyptus garlands and gorgeous geometric table numbers again by the ever talented Mallory at Milkhouse designs. I think what got me though was the monster donut wall, cupcakes and insanely beautiful cake. It was a sugar lovers dream station for sure. Everything was accentuated by little pops of gold everywhere from the cutlery to the candle votives. It truly was beautiful.
After running around the pretty room, it was time to steal Tyler away for the first look. Chris, from Peaking Zebra, and I took a cart down to a beautiful willow tree bordering a pond on the golf course and tucked Tyler away while we waited for Caitlin to arrive. There was loads of anticipation since the golf cart ride was like a good 10mins away from the main area so there was quite the build up. Caitlin arrived and she was just soo soo stunning. her dress from Bridals by Al-Mor was just beautiful. She had the biggest smile on her face as she turned the corner and saw her soon to be husband standing there waiting for her. We had a bit of a pause when Chris ran up to Tyler to turn on the mic which made us all laugh and I think that helped reduce all those strong emotions that were gonna burst. It eased our happy couple into it and when Tyler turned to see his bride he was nothing but smiles. They were both just giddy and hugging and sneaking in little kisses. And just like that, all the stress went away. We took a few more portraits before running off to another location to get family photos done. We were on a time crunch as their adorable baby boy Kohen had to go eat and luckily for us, he was calm and collected and gave us a few good looks.
The sun was playing peek-a-boo all day and at this time of day it was bloody hot and bright so we opted to take the wedding party away into some trees right off the green to give us shade. We were a little worried that we would get smacked by some golf balls but luckily no one swung our way so we were all safe. I started things off with the girls and Damn, have you seen them? They looked absolutely stunning in those emerald Green Vera Wang dresses. I meant just look at how beautiful they all are! We then did a few with the boys which were all looking dapper and they really did clean up well. But you can’t take the boy out of the man and when I told them to just do funny stuff behind Tyler as I took his portrait, they went ahead and started hitting each other with one guys get sacked… Guys, that’s not what I meant but thanks for the laugh! After a few more gorgeous group shots I let them all be on their way in golf carts with booze while I finished up a few more shots of our happy couple.
The ceremony was held on the gold courses beautiful stone patio with white wooden chairs, a white arch and some beautiful eucalyptus accents along the rows. The ceremony was short and sweet but a few standout moments for me were; when Kohen came down the aisle in Amy’s arms and Tyler’s face just lit up when his little boy got to the front. And then of course when Caitlin came down, his emotions boiled up to the surface and he held it in so well. I could see it in his eyes that the tears wanted to make their way out as Caitlin turned the corner but he held it together. As they got to the front, their Officiant, a friend of theirs, opted for a selfie which made all the guests giggle. The ceremony was filled with emotions, from a reading from Tyler’s sister, to their vows and of course to all the laughter in between. It was beautiful and filled with love and even though I’d made them kiss for a good 1.5hrs before the ceremony, the first kiss as husband and wife was even sweeter and the longest of the day. They walked out hand in hand with the widest smiles on their faces. We did a large group shot on the golf course before running away for a few final portraits.
My day was short, but an absolute joy non the less. Thank you Caitlin & Tyler for allowing me to capture those important memories for you and thank you for being so absolutely amazing in front of my camera. I had so much fun and laughed so much with your whole group, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my Saturday evening. xox ♥
